The international choral world will celebrate the 11th edition of the world’s largest international choir competition in fall 2021 – with the health, wellbeing and safety of all participants and visitors as a top-priority.
The World Choir Games are organized every two years by Interkultur. In 2018, they took place in South Africa. In 2022, they will take place in South Korea. Flanders has won the organization of the edition scheduled for July 2020, and postponed to July and November 2021.
Due to the international ambition of the choir, we registered Sing Out for the event two years ago. It was also an opportunity for us to share our values with choirs from all over the world. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic context, this edition will bring together only 72 choirs, including 52 Belgian choirs. 17 European countries are nevertheless represented.
The World Choir Games are a competition, with an international ranking. The already ranked choirs compete against each other in the Champions Competition.
As this is our first participation, we are participating in the Open Competition. For us, whatever the outcome doesn’t matter: the important thing is to participate!
The choirs are divided into categories (children’s choirs, folk choirs, gospel choirs, etc.). We participate in the category “jazz and pop choirs”.
