La Nuit positive – Our voices in the fight against HIV

To mark its 30th anniversary, Ex Aequo organised a major charity concert at La Madeleine, in the centre of Brussels. The show brought together a host of Belgian artists: Noé Preszow, Gustaph, LaDiva Live, Marie Warnant, Karine Clercq, Nino Uncut, Doowy, Mustii and many others. Sing Out Brussels! was also among the guest artists.

Ex Aequo is a leading player in the fight against HIV in Belgium, both in terms of prevention and support for HIV-positive people. 30 years after it was founded, the association and its volunteers are still facing major challenges, with around 50% of new infections each year affecting men who have sex with men. During the evening, videos reminded us that HIV-positive people still suffer from a great deal of prejudice. An HIV-positive person who has an undetectable viral load thanks to their treatment can nevertheless have sex with their partner without a condom without any risk of transmitting HIV, whatever the practices (vaginal, anal, oral sex). She can also have HIV-negative children naturally (without medical assistance) and give birth to HIV-negative children.

To round off the evening, Sing Out Brussels! had the honour of singing with Mustii, providing backing vocals for his song ‘Before the party is over’, with which he represented Belgium at Eurovision this year. A great moment that the singers will remember for a long time!
