Sing Out Brussels! started rehearsing again on Wednesday 7 September. This season our choir has over 70 members, including about 20 new faces. Here is the welcome speech given at the start of the new season.

Good evening everyone, we would like to warmly welcome you to this space

If you are new to Sing Out Brussels, if you are an old hand, or if you have left and returned to Sing Out Brussels!

If you’re Brusseleir, Flemish, or Walloon, if you’re Serbian, Greek, Macedonian, Belarusian, Indian, Filipino, Canadian, American, Argentinian, Mexican, French, Irish, British, Spanish, Catalan, German, Italian, Portuguese or any other nationality, you are welcome here

If you are lesbian, bisexual, gay, queer, pansexual, demisexual, heterosexual, or if you don’t fit any of these labels… We welcome you.

If you identify as a woman, transgender person, non-binary or genderqueer person. if you identify as a man or use any other words that describe your gender identity, we celebrate you and we embrace you for who you are

If you identify yourself as having a disability, visible or invisible, we welcome you.

If you have sung in a choir before, or if you haven’t. If you know how to read music or if you only feel it. If you can dance or if you can’t you are part of this community now and we will support you

If you are in your twenties, thirties, forties, fifties, sixties…

If you are extroverted and outgoing or if you are shy and quiet – or maybe you are both or in-between, you have a safe place here

If you have caring responsibilities, whether for a child, an adult, or an older person, that significantly shape your life…

Whether you are single, married, engaged, divorced, whether you are hooking up, dating, ot you are in partnership, in open relationship, in any other polyamorous constellation, or maybe it’s complicated and your dont want to figure that out, or maybe you are simply in love and don’t want to put a label on it, we see you and we welcome you here

If you practice a religion or faith, or whether you don’t, whether you are spiritual, you are searching, or you have given up…

If you love dogs… if you prefer cats… or you are a pet free person, you are part of our fabulous queer family now. Welcome to the choir!
