During November, our choir welcomed 15 new faces who made it through the audition process. Each week, we organised integration activities while learning a new repertoire.
During this sixth season, our choir has moved the welcoming of new members to November. In fact, September and October were devoted to reconnecting activities to make our community stronger, as well as recording our ‘School’s out’ album (you can still support us by pre-ordering it here).
This season we had a record number of candidates on the waiting list (nearly 200!). As in previous years, the auditions took place in two stages. First, an audio recording of two extracts from our songs, to be made at home. Then, for those selected after this round, a meeting with our choir director, a group singing session with some of the choristers and discussions about the life of the choir and its organisation with the members of our Board of Directors.
Sing Out Brussels! is now richer and more diverse thanks to the arrival of these choristers. Our association now has nearly 100 members, including around 15 non-singing members who support our activities, and no fewer than 30 different nationalities!
During November, our rehearsals were exceptionally extended to allow us to organise integration activities. These activities enabled us to learn first names and pronouns, get to know each other better and make sure that everyone found their place.
We have also set up a buddy system.
At the same time, musical work has resumed, with the learning of new songs in preparation for our concert in June 2024 and our “Queeros” show in 2025.
