On September 19th, we opened the Feminist Days by vzw Amazone asbl, which explored gender in housing this year. Together we sang for visibility and diversity, values at the heart of inclusive housing.

This new season began with a happy event: the marriage of two of our members. Sing Out members were out in force. After all, our choir is first and foremost a community, in which love is present in all its forms.

At the Annual General Meeting, Sing Out members elected their new Board and gratefully acknowledged the departure of several key members. This handover demonstrates the deep attachment of the singers to our association.

Sing Out Brussels! recently travelled to Bristol, UK to take part in the UK & Ireland’s biennial LGBTQI+ choir festival, Hand in Hand, from 16 to 18 August 2024.

On Sunday 23 June, Sing Out Brussels! took part in an inspiring event organised by Bozar to mark ten years of bringing together choirs and other singers from all over the capital.

Inspired by Voces Gaudii’s performance at our recent concert, Various Voices Rising, Sing Out member Kit reflects on the idea of chosen family.

Our Various Voices Rising show brought together on stage three European LGBTQI+ choirs: Voces Gaudii (Poland), DynamiQ Voices (Utrecht) and of course Sing Out Brussels! The show was organised as a prelude to the Various Voices European LGBTQI+ Choir Festival that we are organising in 2026.

With the artist Biche de Ville, our choir gave a concert at an evening to raise awareness of LGBTQI+ rights organised by the municipality of Woluwé-Saint-Pierre. The evening rounded off our Pride Week concert marathon.

Our choir took part in Brussels Pride on May 18, 2024. Singing, of course! In the parade, on the main stage and also at the Grands Carmes as part of Pride Week.

With just a few weeks to go before the elections, 18 EU Member States have pledged to pursue policies designed to strengthen the rights of the LGBTQI+ community. Our choir sang at the signing of this pledge.

To mark Lesbian Visibility Day, Sing Out Brussels! organized a pop-up concert at the Brussels Bourse to honor the members of our choir who identify as lesbians.

Sing Out Brussels! returned to the Kaleo d’Hastière gîte for another workshop weekend. On the menu: learning new songs, delicious meals, a walk in the forest, time to discuss our projects and a line-dancing lesson!

In August 2024, our choir will take part in the Hand in Hand festival of LGBTQI+ choirs from the UK and Ireland. This biennial event will also be an opportunity to promote the Various Voices festival that we are organising in 2026 in Brussels.

It’s become a Christmas tradition for our choir. We sing a few songs during the Winter Vox festival organised as part of the Winter Wonders in Brussels.

During November, our choir welcomed 15 new faces who made it through the audition process. Each week, we organised integration activities while learning a new repertoire.

The singers spent two days at the Jet Studio in Koekelberg to record part of the repertoire for the “School’s out” show. The album, due for release at the end of the year, will feature 13 songs, recorded both live and in the studio.

This weekend was unique, not only because of our special guest but also because we dedicated more time to building our community.

After our sold-out show in June, the next step of our School’s Out project is to professionally record our songs this October, but we need your help to make it happen!

The members of Sing Out Brussels! met at a general meeting on 20 September and elected a new team to lead the non-profit association. The Board is younger, more diverse and full of energy to develop new projects.
